متن کاملChylous pericardial effusion as a rare complication after pulmonary endarterectomy.
Chylous pericardial effusion is a rare complication of cardiac surgery. We report a case of a patient who underwent pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and was diagnosed with chylopericardium after the procedure. We present the surgical management of this condition, which included bilateral pedal lymphangiography followed by ligation of injured lymph vessel.
متن کاملUnexplained recurrent pericardial effusion: a lethal warning?
A case of a 37 year old man with cardiac angiosarcoma causing recurrent pericardial effusion, who eventually died of cardiac rupture, is presented. The diagnosis was not established until the postmortem examination despite echocardiography, pericardiocentesis, and pericardial biopsy investigations. There is neither a specific manifestation that enables early recognition nor well proven effectiv...
متن کاملTraumatic chylous knee effusion.
A 47-year-old patient presented with a chylous knee effusion and traumatic infected skin lacerations. The diagnosis of septic arthritis was considered because of purulent looking joint fluid, spuriously high synovial fluid white cell count, and signs of acute knee synovitis. Synovial fluid lipid analysis showed increased total lipids due to high concentration of neutral lipids, mainly triglycer...

Chylothorax and chylopericardium secondary to thrombosis of the superior vena cava and the innominate and subclavian veins were diagnosed in a patient with Behçet's syndrome. Immunosuppressive treatment, diet, and underwater seal drainage led to a diminished volume of pleural fluid and pericardial fluid and to a diminished concentration of triglyceride in them; pleurodesis with tetracycline was...
